Canada is a country that has the potential of making dreams come true for people who want to be successful. Besides being a land of immense natural beauty, it is also a land of unlimited opportunities. Canada has been declared by the UN as the best country to reside in for the 8th consecutive year since 1992.
A low population of only 30 million and a high degree of industrialization makes for a minimal unemployment rate of 6.9% (September 1999 Report of Statistics Canada) and a reasonable cost of living. It has abundant natural resources and is a prominent member of G-8. Canada offers the best social welfare programs in the world to its people. Canada’s cultural life is vibrant because of fusion of different cultures from all around the globe. With its economy pulsating, Canada is the ultimate ‘EI Dorado‘ for immigrants from all over.
Since 1867 Canada has enjoyed de facto independence while retaining, certain formal ties to the British Crown. Economically and technologically the nation has developed in parallel with the US, its neighbour to the south across an open border. Its paramount political problem continues to be the relationship of the province of Quebec, with its French speaking residents and unique culture, to the remainder of the country.

Asia-Pacific:
Canada's economic ties with the countries of the Asia-Pacific region are becoming stronger and more diverse. This region contains many of the fastest-growing economies in the world. By the year 2000, the Asia Pacific region will contain 60 percent of the world's population, and will produce 50 percent of its gross domestic product. By 2020, it will encompass 7 of the top ten economies in the world.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) comprises Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei and the Philippines. As a group, these countries rank among Canada's top 10 export markets. With a population of 337 million people, the ASEAN maintains a GDP half that of China.

Canada is undertaking important initiatives to expand its trade with specific markets. In May 1993, the Minister for International Trade launched the Action Plan for Japan. This is a joint undertaking with the private sector, to alert industry to the changing conditions, encourage product adaptation, and assist with product promotion. The Team Canada conference in Toronto was focused exclusively on the Asia-Pacific region. Similar events are scheduled for the Atlantic provinces in spring 1997, Ottawa in the summer and Western Canada in the fall.

Canadian exports are expected to continue to increase. Opportunities exist for developing infrastructure and telecommunications, encouraging industrial joint ventures, and expanding markets.

HIGH STANDARD OF LIVING
Canada’s standard of living is among the highest in the world .More than 65 percent of Canadians own their own homes , with an even higher percentage owning durable goods , such as automobiles , refrigerators , washing machines , televisions , telephones , and radios.

LOW COST OF LIVING
For all that it offers , Canada has a remarkably low cost of living . Its inflation rate has remained the lowest in the industrialized world .

BEAUTIFUL ENVIRONMENT
In addition to its cultural heritage , Canada is a country of incredible physical beauty .Cosmopolitan cities sit adjacent to spectacular mountains , oceans and the great lakes . From the magnificent Rocky mountains and the warm blue Pacific Ocean on the West coast , to beautiful lakes and the magnificent Niagra falls in central Canada , to the lush green hills of Atlantic Canada ---- The country has it all !!!! As the World’s second largest country , Canada not only has the longest coastline extending 244,000 km , but also 25% of the world’s fresh water is found in Canada .
